Round 5 wrap up and Round 6 Preview

Round 5 wrap up and Round 6 Preview

It was a perfect day down at the nest as all sides went into battle across the weekend. Our Division 6 Netball side won for the second time this year, in a performance that the score never really reflected. Their team work ethic was second to none and never wavered from the task at hand.

In the match of the round for HFNC, our Under 19’s came up just short against reigning premiers St Kilda City by 9 points. Coach Scott Mackenzie is full of praise for his young brigade as they kept pushing it against the best in the competition. In his words ‘Where coming for you!’ A very bright future for these young guys.

Our Woman’s football team failed to capitalize against one of the early favourites in Mordiallic on Sunday but there were many positives coming out of the game. More importantly this raw group of girls are still learning the art of the game, and team work has improved significantly and we are determined to ensure they get there first win in the coming weeks.

Lastly our Seniors and Reserves recorded record breaking numbers on the weekend with what must be our highest score posted to date with the seniors winning gallantly 197 (47 scoring) to Sandown’s 32 and in the Reserves 176 (41 scoring shots) to Sandown’s 12. A grand total of 373 to 42! A great effort all around. Our thirds manage to knock off Keysbourough for the second time this year and sit in the top 5!

Moving in to Round 6 this weekend with the SFNL Match of the round heading down to Power Reserve as Hallam FNC take on Doveton FNC. This will provide great exposure to the club as the quality of Football has increased significantly over the past 2 seasons. To be recognised is a great achievement to the Coaches, committee and members. Enjoy the occasion to the selected senior side this week.

Thirds are away Vs Cheltenham and our under 19’s will showcase a great day of Footy at Power Reserve before the reserves take the ground

Hallam Host Highett in the Woman’s Footy development competition starting from 12pm on Sunday. Whilst both Netball sides are at the SDNA centre with Division 6 starting at 1.20pm Vs Doveton and Division 8  also at 1.20pm Vs Doveton.

All in all, The club sits in a fantastic position after five rounds with most of the sides in the top brackets of their respective portfolios. We wish all teams every success heading into the round and we look forward to seeing you this weekend
